18. Jealousy in a relationship

Jealousy is an emotion that can creep into love surprisingly easily. It often stems from insecurity, past experiences, or the fear of losing someone important to you. While a little jealousy can sometimes feel flattering, if it persists, it can wear down a relationship and cause distance. Fortunately, trust can be learned and strengthened – together.

The first step is to learn to speak openly. When both of you dare to express your feelings without blaming, a space is created for understanding and intimacy. Shared rules and boundaries also make it easier: what does loyalty or flirting mean to you? Clarity reduces misinterpretations and makes both of you feel safer. At the same time, it is worth consciously strengthening the other's self-esteem - appreciation, attention and small words can work wonders.

Trust is also built through actions. Being open about everyday things, like who you spend time with, creates transparency without the other person feeling controlled. Finally, it's also important to look in the mirror: where do your own feelings of insecurity stem from? Jealousy is often more a sign of your own fears than the other person's actions. When you get to know yourself better, there's room for more trust in the relationship – and less doubt.
